SAN DIEGO, CA (October 20, 2006) - For the first time ever, girls of all ages together with their families will join forces at NTC Promenade, Liberty Station, on Saturday, November 4th, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, to share positive wishes for a brighter tomorrow while participating in enriching activities and hearing from socially conscious organizations at the first Girls’ Day San Diego.

There is no cost whatsoever to attend the event where girls will have a chance to write positive wishes for the world. Ashley Tisdale, star of High School Musical, will make a special appearance to read several of the wishes for a better world throughout the day.

“No matter what anyone tells you, beauty comes from the inside,” said Tisdale. "I’m excited about Girls’ Day, which is going to be devoted to girl empowerment, cool activities and having lots of fun.”

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego, Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County, Esteemed Kids, DeepBlue Educators and The Women's History Museum and Educational Center will join other local and national organizations at the event to encourage girls’ involvement with goodwill activities.

Girls’ Day San Diego is made possible by a generous grant from Bella Sara, a new brand of trading cards featuring whimsical illustrations of horses and positive, inspirational slogans to help reinforce the idea that beauty comes from within. A European phenomenon, Bella Sara was created by a social worker to help promote optimism, goodwill and a healthy self-image for girls at this important developmental stage. Bella Sara trading cards are published in the United States by Hidden City Games, the company founded by Peter D. Adkison, the same person who introduced Pokémon trading cards here in 1999, and Magic: The Gathering in 1994.

Bella Sara trading cards will be distributed free to all children and their families attending Girls’ Day San Diego, to help spread and promote empowering messages among young girls. For example, one trading card featuring a white horse named Dynamo, says, “Believe in yourself. Have confidence in what you do.” Another card, featuring a pretty horse named Rose, reads, “Listen to your dreams. What they tell you is important.” A black and white spotted horse named Nanna carries the statement, “Think positively. Your happy thoughts will grow.”

Bella Sara trading cards can also be purchased at local Blockbuster, Kmart, Target, Toys “R” Us and Wal-Mart stores.
